A 40-Minute Trajectory Consultation for Understanding Long-Term TBI

Overview

Living with traumatic brain injury often means navigating changes that unfold across the lifespan. In conventional medical care, seemingly disconnected challenges are typically treated as individual issues, and their relationship to TBI can be lost.

TBI Survivor Consultations are for individuals living with traumatic brain injury who are seeking to better understand their long-term trajectory and advocate for themselves as their personal TBI constellation evolves.

Together, we'll strengthen your understanding of how TBI impacts the whole body, organize your lived experience into a clearer picture for conversations with providers, translate complex biological concepts into practical understanding, and identify meaningful patterns, questions, and next steps that support informed decision-making and effective self-advocacy.

Symptoms may evolve, overlap, disappear, or emerge over time. This changing constellation is often unseen by traditional medicine. We'll work to make sense of what can otherwise appear disconnected by examining your lived experience across recurring patterns, life transitions, and interactions among systems over time.

The goal is to help you better understand your unique trajectory, recognize meaningful connections, and develop a clearer picture to better advocate for yourself while navigating your health moving forward.

Areas of Consultation

Your TBI Journey

Review of your injury history, symptom progression, major health events, and the questions you hope to better understand.

Exploring Physiological Patterns
Identification of longitudinal patterns and connections across systems — sleep, energy, mood, digestion, hormones, cognition — and how they relate to each other and to your injury. This can help make sense of experiences that have seemed unrelated.

Lifespan & Whole-Body Physiology

Discussion and understanding of how traumatic brain injury may influence the whole body across time, including autonomic function, hormones, sleep, cardiovascular health, cognition, and other interconnected physiological processes.

Recommended Next Steps

Discussion of observations, educational recommendations, and opportunities for continued learning, additional consultation, or future exploration.

Preparing for the Consultation

Medical records are not required prior to the consultation.

Participants are encouraged to provide:

A brief overview of their injury

Major health concerns or changes over time

The primary questions they would like to explore

Should an ongoing consulting relationship be established, additional information may be requested following the initial consultation.

Private 40-minute Zoom consultation focused on your questions and concerns.

Consultation recording so you can revisit the discussion at your own pace.

Consultation Summary, delivered within seven business days, highlighting the major topics discussed, key observations, physiological relationships, future considerations, and recommended resources.

Personalized resource guide with research articles, educational resources, books, organizations, and other references discussed during your consultation.

Fourteen-day follow-up period, allowing time for continued reflection. During this period, you may submit up to five follow-up questions by email, and additional observations or resources that emerge following the consultation may also be shared.
